latest work: iberostar de las letras

just finished shooting the new iberostar hotel de las letras in gran via madrid, here is a little preview from the angle I shot. I got other angles but this one showed the gran via which is a major road that cuts madrid’s center in half. It was shot with the nikon 24mm tilt and shift, one of my favorite lenses for architecture. click on the link below to see the animated movie. de las letras final wide-HD 720p

behind the scenes: documentary shoot . punta laguna . mexico

last week we collaborated on a documentary about a mayan priest in punta laguna mexico with good friend, director, and underwater videographer, cristina limonta. we used all sorts of camera gear and like always it is all about experimentation once you are there. please check her videos out here, she has some amazing underwater videos from mexico’s oceans and cenotes. we live in a fragile world, we should strive to keep a balance with our footprint in this world and preserve where we live.

latest work: music video “pourquoi” filmed in tulum, mexico

i have the pleasure to introduce the new music video from new york based singer/songwriter hervé called “pourquoi” from his album number 1. filmed digitally with 35mm prime lenses in the natural and mystic land of tulum mexico over a period of 48 hours. hervé is one of the most charismatic, enigmatic, joyful persons you can meet, and my goal was to bring this passion for his art in this video. i want to thank hemingway hotel for the hospitality during the shoot, by far one the best places to stay and eat in tulum! hope you enjoy it!

quick clip: "us against the world" . skimboarding deerfield beach

skim boarding derives from skateboarding and surfing, it uses ones momentum to skim out to the breaking waves into shore. this is a quick edit from the deerfield pier in florida using the sony fs100 slow motion feature and the sony lens. enjoy

tools of the trade: sony fs100

i am not fond of talking about technology even though i spend countless hours doing research for the best tools for my work. i like quality period. my belief is that your equipment should not interfere with the creative process, it should just compliment it and work! for this to happen you need to find the right tools for the work you do. in this case i found this amazing little box called sony fs100. the images out of this box are so great that it rivals expensive camcorders at a fraction of the cost. with the atomos ninja attached to the hdmi you can record 4:2:2 uncompressed video (that’s raw to photographers), this means a lot of latitude for pos production! i was never a dslr video fan, it just felt wrong to do video with a camera that i am so used to take photos with, i kept pressing the shutter to hear the click… you can go to many review pages for this camera and hear all the specs and details, i just like it because it just works, the images are beautiful, and it leaves me more time to create and explore. to see the beauty of this camera i shot several clips to view the results out of the box. the first is in front of my apartment in mexico where you can see the construction workers just about to pour concrete into a column on the fourth floor (slow mo setting from the camera), then some clips from my recent trip to florida. now is time for my imagination to go wild… shorts coming soon!
